What Time of Day Should You Exercise?
By Joe Mullen
There is no "best" time to exercise. Individual lifestyles must be taken into account. The hour just before the evening meal is a popular time for exercise. Although some people find that they are not hungry right after working out. Other people feel famished. You can see that the information is contradictory, and it will become your choice as to which works for you.
The late afternoon workout provides a welcome change of pace at the end of the work day and helps dissolve the day's worries and tensions. Most workers like to visit the fitness center before going home to eat.
Another popular time to work out is early morning, before the work day begins. Advocates of the early start say it makes them more alert and energetic on the job. The initial problem with this is that you will find the weights you are use to using will feel much heavier to you.
After a few days, or weeks of that schedule, your body will adapt and all will be well. Just do not force yourself to use too much weight to soon. Be patient.
The major factors you should consider when developing your workout schedule are personal preferences, job and family responsibilities, tje availability of exercise facilities and the weather.
It's important to schedule workouts for a time when there is little chance you will have to cancel or interrupt other important duties and demands placed on your time.
Typically, and depending on the way your body reacts to various circumstances, you should avoid exercising strenuously during extremely hot, humid weather or within two hours after eating.
Heat and/or digestion both make heavy demands on the circulatory system and in combination with exercise can become an over-taxing double load of work for your body.
In general, like all things related to exercise, use common sense. Decide what works for you and do not worry about what others prefer. You are unique and have unique requirements.
Let common sense be your guide. |
