A Statement of Intent

By Joe Mullen

A statement of intent begins with a positive thought of what you are choosing to accomplish. It is the thought about your exercise program that gives you the highest feeling of self-worth. You are asking for help and permission to proceed in the healthiest way possible for your highest benefit.

Let us assume we agree that some “Source” is responsible for our “being” and that that Source is on a higher plane mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually than we are.

Let us make believe The Source is superior, benevolent, and willing to help us in any noble way.

Let us embrace our wisdom, ask for guidance, and help from something with more knowledge, something superior to ourselves. That is what the Intent statement represents.

Following are examples of a statement of Thank You combined with a Statement of Intent. Use it, or not to your advantage:

“Thank you Source: For creating me and for giving me the choice and opportunity to improve my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual elements through this exercise program.

If it be thy will, summon the Life Force powers of the Universe as a Life Force within me today. Help me create a beneficial workout to enhance my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual elements without injury. From now forward and for whatever time is appropriate. Thank you.”

There you have one idea as a first step to improving your being to its maximum level -- to becoming the best you can be. This approach may seem unusual (at the very least) to some people. Others who have been on a Spiritual Quest will identify with what we are saying. Either way is valid, productive and creates results not possible by other means.

Please understand that we do not feel we are preaching “Religion” by recommending giving thanks or making positive statements of Intent. We feel we are passing on one of the secrets of the Universe. If it bothers you to try this approach, do not do it.

Author’s note: Although I spent my life searching out fact from fiction, logical from irrational, and separating “gray” claims into black or white truths or untruths, we were very amazed at the positive consequences of the Thank You and Intent statements. I did not create them; I learned them from others more informed than me. I share them with you because they are successful. Use them (or not) to your advantage.
